Itinerary
Day 1
Bogotá Gastronomic Wonders
To begin, you will meet your guide at the National Museum and walk before arriving at the Market Square "La Perseverancia", a place founded by the working class of the early twentieth century. There you will feel the typical atmosphere of a traditional Colombian food market and you will be able to interact with traditional chefs and taste delicious entrees and fruits.
Then you will walk through the La Macarena neighborhood, the bohemian area of Bogotá in the mid-twentieth century. Today, this area has been transformed into a recognizable area of international restaurants and art galleries.
Then, you will walk along the Seventh Race, to enjoy "El Septimazo", a very diverse route where you will find street performers, singers, food and craft cars and identify theaters and some of the most emblematic buildings in the area.
You will stop at the traditional “Florida Pastry Shop”, to try delicious cakes and a hot drink like Aguapanela or chocolate from Santa Fe.
Going to the southeast, you will appreciate the transformation of the center with the new cultural, commercial and residential buildings that contrast with the colonial and republican constructions, before visiting an artisan ice cream shop to try an exotic Amazonian fruit ice cream.
Then, you will walk through the historic center, La Candelaria, until you reach a restored colonial house, a restaurant with Colombian cuisine, where you will taste and meet exquisite recipes from different regions of the country.
In the end, you will visit an indigenous store, where you will have the opportunity to try some coca leaf products and talk with an indigenous woman from the Embera people, who will explain that Coca is not cocaine but a sacred plant and why it is a fundamental part of cosmogony and native nutrition. You will also learn more about how this store has struggled to preserve indigenous culture, economy and traditions when facing conflicts with drug traffickers, industry and government.
