Chingaza is one of the most impressive natural parks in Colombia. Located just east of Bogotá at an altitude of 3400 meters above sea level, this natural park has a unique ecosystem belonging to the high Andean forest, which plays a crucial role in maintaining the Earth's balance.
This nature reserve offers you a network of trails where you will have the opportunity to be in contact with its unique flora species such as the Fraibejón Uribei, 186 species of documented birds and native mammals such as deer, Andean bears and small cats; However, it is very difficult for bears to see each other, it is not something that always happens. The impressive landscapes that frame the lush nature present in this park make the visit to 'the mountain of water' something that nature lovers should do in Bogotá.

Day 1
Water Mountain - Chingaza National Park
The trip begins at 7:00 am from your hotel in Bogotá, where the driver will meet you to undertake a 1.5-hour trip east of the capital. In the middle of the road, you will stop at La Calera and taste the acclaimed arepas with red wine (a softer version of American coffee). When you arrive at the entrance of the national park, you will meet the local guide, who will accompany you along the walk. The native guides of this region have a deep knowledge of the flora and fauna of the region, with which they can highlight fascinating aspects of the route and tell you anecdotes related to indigenous cultures and traditional peasant communities in the area.
The walk lasts approximately 3 hours and culminates in Buitrago Lagoon. After the walk, you will return to the cabin, where you can take a comforting aguapanela. Additionally, here you will have the opportunity to use the bathrooms and change your wet clothes for warm and dry clothes and shoes (bring a change of spare clothes because the probability of getting wet is very high).
After walking in the middle of one of nature's largest water sources, the driver will take you back to your hotel or any other part of the city just in time for lunch.

IMPORTANT: When visiting one of the largest water factories in the world, the chances of rain are high. This is why it is important to bring a waterproof jacket, walking shoes and a complete change of clothing (including shoes). Since we have to manage the permit, contact us a few days in advance. Availability depends on the park's carrying capacity. We also organize camping trips. Although the biodiversity of this park is very large, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to observe all the species that inhabit it. This depends on many factors and greatly influences the ability to observe and care when walking. The maximum height of this hike is 4000 meters above sea level. There may be changes in the route due to external factors. These changes will be notified to you in advance.
